An immersive celebration of Hispanic Heritage
During Morning Assembly, in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, students shared what they are learning in their Spanish class with Profesora Lucas, showcasing creative ways to celebrate, honor and embrace Hispanic culture and traditions.
The fifth grade sang the greeting song "Saludos," where they interacted with each other by expressing salutations, farewells, and polite words in a warm and fun manner. The sixth grade sang the names of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries to the tune of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," while they raised colorful snapshots of each country as it was mentioned. This provided a visual appreciation of the diverse colors, landscapes, and beauty that each Spanish-speaking country has to offer.
The seventh grade highlighted notable Hispanic figures who have influenced the United States and beyond. Each student introduced themselves in Spanish as the person that they represented and delivered inspiring quotes on their behalf.
The eighth grade performed the popular contemporary song "Corazón Espinado," featuring the distinctive sound of Carlos Santana, known for his innovative fusion of rock and Latin music. Their performance included interpretive dance and choreography, allowing students to experience the natural movement and rhythm of Latin culture.
These presentations showed how the students embrace their immersive Spanish learning experience at Clairbourn with heart and enthusiasm. Enjoy a few of these meaningful quotes that were read by our students —

Science in Every Grade: Engineering Meets Environmental Science
at Clairbourn
Design Thinking in Action
Last week, the second grade did an engineering project as part of their animal unit in science. After learning about how different birds prefer to eat at different kinds of bird feeders, our second grade engineers designed prototypes that would make a good bird feeder for a finch, jay, woodpecker or cardinal. They planned ways to keep the birds who visited their bird feeder safe from predators (in this case, cats). Prototypes were built with simple materials that are easy to cut, fold, and bend. The students displayed great focus and creativity during this project. Every prototype was a little bit different!
Investigating Plastics
The eighth grade is learning about the properties of plastics, how we use them in our lives, and how they affect the world around us. The students recently investigated the densities of the six main types of plastics and used their observations to identify plastic resin pellets. By understanding more about the types of plastics, the students are learning how to make better choices about the materials we use every day. |

If anyone prefers to have the original image instead of the retake in the yearbook, they can contact JostensPix's customer care team to request a change.

Learning and Building Connections Beyond the Classroom
Our middle school students returned from their three day adventure trips to CIMI and Pali last week. They enjoyed many hands-on activities that deepened their understanding of the marine and mountain ecosystems, helped them
connect with nature, and offered new opportunities to bond with their classmates.
Seventh and eighth-grade students explored the waters of Toyon Bay, got up close and personal with a squid, and made art from algae. Sixth graders tried out fun concoctions of mixed-up fountain drinks at Pali, a favorite tradition, and participated in lots of team-building activities, including a ride on the zipline. It was wonderful for our students to bond with one another off campus!
Special thanks to our dedicated middle school teachers who chaperoned these trips and provided unwavering support and supervision to ensure our students' safety throughout this unforgettable experience.

Our preschoolers celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival through hands-on, engaging activities that brought the tradition to life. They used stickers to form a Chinese character "yue" which means "moon" in English, molded mooncakes with play dough, and listened to stories about the moon and its legends. These sensory and creative experiences helped them explore cultural traditions while developing fine motor skills, curiosity, and imagination.
