New Student Support Partners
Please complete the consent form at your earliest convenience.
This year, Clairbourn is launching a new partnership with Counseling Partners of Los Angeles (CPLA). They will be providing counseling services to Clairbourn by embedding two individuals into our school. Each one will serve two days a week and will provide needed support for our students.
The primary goal will be to build social and emotional skills in our students to allow them to handle big emotions productively and with increasing consistency. Students will learn the skills to manage frustration, fears, sadness, social issues, anxiety, and friendship stresses in a positive and helpful way. In addition to these skills, they will build self-awareness and a positive self-concept. All of these tools will allow them to be even more productive and successful in the classroom and in everyday interactions with others.
Students may be referred to the CPLA representatives by their teacher, their parent, or (in the case of older students) themselves. If a student is referred to CPLA, the representatives would start with a conversation with the parent to get input or feedback. All conversations with the child remain confidential unless safety concerns arise.
Not all students will use this service in any given year, but in order to allow any child to take advantage of the support, a consent form must be signed by a parent. A consent form is NOT a referral request. Please use this link to sign the CPLA consent form. |
From Head of School
Much to Look Forward to!
Dear Clairbourn Families,
This is going to be a very exciting year. When you come on campus, you will see the work that has been done to prepare for our centennial year! We have upgraded some of the facilities, like adding fans to the lunch areas, installing a privacy barrier to the preschool back patios, and installing new signs around the campus. We have been cleaning and sprucing things up, including trimming trees, cleaning carpets, and power washing lots of walkways. We have oriented our new faculty and are very excited to introduce you to our expanded team. They are already adding a lot to the community. Finally, we are excited to introduce another way to support our students through an on-site counseling program. We are confident it will make a big difference to our students and their learning. You can read all about it and find the consent form in the announcement above.
As I look forward, I am confident about our year to come. I'm so glad you are all part of the Clairbourn Family. Let's have a great year!
Amy Patzlaff, Ed.D.

Student Cell Phone Policy

Clairbourn is a phone-free space to improve teaching and learning.
Students in preschool - fifth grades MAY NOT bring any personal electronic devices to school, including but not limited to games, smart watches, tablet computers, laptop computers, wireless headphones, e-readers, and cell phones. |
Middle school cell phone policy is as follows: Students may bring a cell phone to school but it MUST BE locked in a Yondr pouch during the school day.
|
Yondr has been implemented in over 1,000 schools across 21 countries to facilitate an engaged learning environment. It utilizes a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone.
Every middle school student will secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school each day. Students will maintain possession of their phones and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day. Students are responsible for their pouch during the school day.
If there is an emergency or time-sensitive information your child needs and you would like to get in contact with your child, please call Clairbourn directly at 626-286-3108.
In an effort to best serve our students, we appreciate your full support in respecting Clairbourn's cell phone policy and the adoption of the Yondr program at our school. If you have any questions please contact the Assistant Head of School, Mrs. Taylor.
