Thank you for celebrating community with us!
This year’s spring concert, “Seasons of Love,” celebrated one hundred years (four hundred seasons) of care, connection, and community at Clairbourn School. Students from junior pre-kindergarten through fifth grade performed songs centered on the four seasons, moving through the year one season at a time. Woven throughout these performances were messages of hope, peace, joy, and love.
As we reflect on our own lives and on the journey of Clairbourn School in the past one hundred years, we hope to remember, as the song so beautifully says, to measure it in love. Click here to read the full blog.
Special thank you to Ms. Kiertzner and Mr. Elmore for a great concert, the administration for your support, the JPK through fifth grade teachers for your assistance and patience, and to the maintenance crew for your hard work!

Clairbourn Families Association (CFA)

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Spring Fair this year!
This year's Fair was a testament to the unwavering spirit and dedication of our community. The heartwarming reward of witnessing the children's joy, hearing their laughter, and seeing the beaming faces of our parents reaffirms why we are so fortunate to be part of the Clairbourn family.
None of this would have been possible without the tremendous support of our generous sponsors and donors, dedicated members of the CFA, the Fair committee and the Clairbourn staff, faculty and maintenance team . Please click here to read the full list of volunteers. We extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of them!

Science & Curiosity Across the Campus

Big Questions • Real Science: How Students Explored Space and Earth
Fifth grade students were given a choice board of 8 driving questions to explore the science of space. Each student picked the one that was most interesting to them and researched the science behind that mystery. Students researched vocabulary terms, brainstormed how to present the science, and built their presentations all in class. It was completely student led and student built. Students then presented their projects to peers in class, engaging in peer discussions on their presentations and research.

Author Wallace Stegner once said that "National parks are the best idea we ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic, they reflect us at our best rather than our worst." The sixth grade class has been learning about the features that make America's national parks so special. Using a lesson from Mount Rainier National Park, the students collected data to experimentally determine the moisture content and angle of repose necessary to form lahars, which are volcanic mudflows. The students also researched different national parks and wrote letters to the rangers asking questions about the erosion and deposition that shaped the landscapes and about the rangers' jobs. We have started to receive replies from the rangers, and mail call has become an exciting part of 6th grade science class!

Honoring the Cultural Heritage of our Clairbourn Community!
The Clairbourn community celebrated a Cultural Heritage Day!
Students, faculty, and staff wore traditional attire or a shirt to represent their culture. Some also wore their Clairbourn shirt to represent being a part of the Clairbourn culture! Thank you to middle school social studies teacher Mrs. Neilson and science teacher Ms. Vinnedge for organizing this special event, and to all of the middle school parents for sharing a dish from your culture! |
