Field Trip Highlights

The fourth graders had an exciting and enriching visit to the California Science Center. The day began with an immersive IMAX film, Antarctica, which transported students to the farthest reaches of this wild and majestic continent. They dove beneath the sea ice to explore different seafloor habitats, where purple starfish thrive and jellyfish glide in a mesmerizing yet deadly dance. The film also took them alongside playful seals, over towering mountain peaks, and across vast penguin colonies. It ended with breathtaking views of the largest gathering of humpback whales ever captured on film.

Following the movie, students put their engineering skills to the test in a hands-on, inquiry-based boat lab. Working collaboratively, they designed and built their own boats, experimenting with different strategies to keep their creations afloat. It was inspiring to see their problem-solving abilities and teamwork in action.
April Drop Everything
and Build Day

Well done, Cougar Engineers!

To celebrate Earth Day yesterday, the Middle School students were challenged to build a wind-powered car that could travel the farthest distance. Engineers were given paper, foil, straws, dowels, skewers, paper clips, and binders to attach to car frames. No tape was allowed in this challenge, adding another engineering constraint. Using fans to power the cars meant the engineers needed to design the best way to catch the wind while keeping their cars stable and able to travel a straight line.

In the end, the runners-up in the sixth grade were Penny and Junya, and the car that went the farthest was built by Everest and Tony. In the seventh grade, the runners-up were Katilin and Emma, and the car that went the farthest was built by Nicole and Jeremy. And in the eighth grade, the runners-up were Kevin and Belen, and the car that went the farthest in the entire Middle School was built by Keira and Hins.
Auction Highlights

Jessica Z. (5th) was Head of School for the day yesterday and started the day by greeting students at dropoff, running the morning assembly, sitting in on important meetings and having lunch in the Manor House with a few of her friends. To top it all off, Jessica proclaimed an extra free dress day.

Our librarian for the day, third grader Milania N., enjoyed a day learning about how the library functions. She got to greet the students, process their books, and read stories to her peers while working alongside our librarian, Mrs. Ward. She also learned how to cover the new books and had a special lunch in the library with some friends. Thank you, Milania, for making this day special with your enthusiasm!

Third grader Priscilla stepped into the role of Director of Communications and Marketing last week. She had a busy day attending meetings with Dr. Patzlaff and Mrs. Zamora, taking photography requests from teachers, and visiting classrooms across campus. Her favorite task was photography, and she especially enjoyed learning how to process photos. Priscilla also had the chance to invite friends to join her for lunch at the Manor House, where they enjoyed In-N-Out and boba drinks, along with a fun dance session. Don’t forget to check out Priscilla’s photo album and her Clairbourn poster on display near the kindergarten area!

A Taste of Math

Class 6C recently completed their Ratios & Proportions unit and celebrated with a collaborative café-themed project. In groups, students took on the role of café staff, each specializing in a dessert. Their task was to adjust a recipe by doubling it, reducing it by half, and scaling it to serve a class of 20—including 17 students, Mr. Woo, Mr. Elmore, and one additional guest.

Students applied their understanding of ratios to accurately scale ingredients and justify their mathematical thinking. To bring the project to life, several groups also prepared their desserts, including chocolate brownie cake, caramel-drizzled cookies, and lemon drizzle cake.

The class then participated in a gallery walk, where students explored each group’s work, learned from one another, and sampled the desserts. It was a great showcase of both mathematical reasoning and creativity—well done to all for their effort and achievement!

CFA Tradition: Honoring Eighth Grade Parents

Thank you to those who attended our last CFA meeting! It was an emotional morning filled with gratitude as we honored our eighth grade parents. We love celebrating their journey at Clairbourn! It was heartwarming to see so many parents who are willing to volunteer for CFA next year.

Thank you for everyone's support in making the community a better place
for all.

Community Helpers

Preschool students have been learning about various helpers within our community.

Each week, they enjoyed dramatic play stations where they could pretend to be a community helper. Stations included a doctor's office, a construction site, and a police/fire station. Various community helpers were also invited to visit the preschool classrooms and share information about their jobs, such as a dentist, police officer, doctor, and firefighter. They discussed safety tips, how to keep their bodies healthy, and which community helper they want to be when they grow up.

Thank you to Dr. Kim, a Clairbourn parent, for a special visit to the classroom!

So much excitement is happening every day in the preschool area!

Talent Show
