C.A.S.T. is Proud to Present: Superheroes, Unite!
Superheroes, Unite! is coming to the MPB on Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m.
Calling all superheroes! The citizens of Nova City need a patron superhero to save them from the evil clutches of the nefarious Colonel Mustard and his sidekick Hemlock. So what do they do? They hold an audition, of course! Legions of fantastic, incredible, and uncanny characters descend upon City Hall hoping the mayor and police commissioner might marvel at their strange powers, which range from super strength to super speed, from mind reading to animal whispering, from quoting Shakespeare to pointing out irony. Okay, so some superpowers are more helpful than others, but when Colonel Mustard unleashes a surprise attack on City Hall, both the mighty and the average must join together to bring justice and security to Nova City.

There will be two performances for students: Wednesday, March 18, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. for grades 4 to 8 and Thursday, March 19, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. for grades 1 - 3. A final public showing for all guests will be held on Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m. The Friday performance tickets are now on sale for $10. |

Clairbourn Insights
Fairy Tales Meet Character

Our second graders presented the musical play Character Matters 2 last week. They sang songs and acted out the problems of fairy tale characters learning to make ethical choices. All students performed in both the 2B and 2G casts, presenting six shows for students, parents, and faculty!
It was impressive how well our students learned their lines, their entrances and exits, and even managed their own backstage costume changes. There were so many special moments as our actors and singers displayed their talents: Snow White learned to show gratitude to the dwarfs who helped her, the Troll (from the Three Billy Goats Gruff) learned to change his ways and stop being a bully, and the Miller's Daughter learned you should never give up. (cast 2G video above)
Thank you to our second grade teachers Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Hung for working tirelessly with our students, our art teacher, Ms. Germonprez, for helping the students create the backdrops, and the tremendous support from our parents! (cast 2B video on the right)

Learning Organ Systems Through Dissection
As the seventh grade studies the human organ systems in science class, one of their hands-on experiences is dissecting a chicken wing. The skeletal and muscular systems are similar among all vertebrates, so the students were able to directly observe muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bone marrow. Connecting science class vocabulary terms with real-world explorations helps the students better understand how organ systems work together to help organisms function.

Thank you for being Scholars and Leaders with Heart!
Clairbourn has a long and meaningful tradition of supporting Door of Hope, a Pasadena-based nonprofit founded in 1985. For four decades, Door of Hope has walked alongside families in crisis by partnering with parents and children experiencing homelessness to secure safe shelter, helping families on the brink of eviction stay housed, and guiding those devastated by the Eaton Fire as they move toward stable, permanent housing.
Today, we invite the Clairbourn community to continue this legacy of compassion and leadership by supporting Door of Hope through the following programs:
Together, we can ensure local parents and children have not just shelter — but safety, stability, and a renewed sense of hope.

Trimester Two: Honors and Music Awards
Clairbourn is committed to creating Scholars and Leaders with Heart.
We are proud to share the trimester two academic achievements of our hard-working students.
Honor Roll: Students achieving Honor Roll status have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher, which includes 3 A's, no grade lower than a B in their academic subjects, and no grade lower than a 1.
Head's List: Students achieving Head's List status have a GPA of 4.0, earning ALL A's in their academic subjects and no grade lower than a 1.
Throughout the year, students in the fourth through eighth grades who participate in Clairbourn's instrumental music program are dedicated to advancing their musical knowledge and skills. They strive to successfully complete rigorous assessments that test their general musical knowledge, instrument-specific proficiency, and the ability to play their chosen instruments. A minimum achievement of 90% is set for passing each music level. Many of our talented musicians not only attained multiple levels but also exhibited dedication to self-improvement through their hard work and commitment. Congratulations to our Clairbourn musicians!
Each of you show heart in all you do and we are looking forward to seeing your continued growth!

Art Highlight
Middle school students were introduced to the world of fashion design through a series of videos featuring professional designers explaining their creative process. They learned about mood boards by curating collections of images, colors, and textures used to establish the tone and creative direction for a project.
Students also explored how designers develop their own styles for drawing the human figure and clothing, often creating illustrations that resemble works of art rather than technical plans for garments. Each designer brings a unique approach, including preferred materials such as watercolor, acrylic markers, or simple graphite pencil.
Inspired by their research, students designed their own fashion line or costume concept for a show. They studied designers online and selected fabric or color swatches to illustrate how their designs might look if produced.

Women's History Month
In honor of Women’s History Month, Student Council has been presenting extraordinary women who have made an impact on history.
The first was photographer Cindy Sherman, known for creating powerful images in which she transforms herself into different characters. Rather than self-portraits, her photographs explore identity, storytelling, and the roles people play in society.
Sherman’s well-known Untitled Film Stills series invites viewers to imagine their own stories behind each image. Throughout her career, she has received major honors, including a MacArthur Fellowship and the Wolf Prize in Arts, and she continues to inspire audiences through her creativity and impact on photography.
The second highlight was Paralympian Oksana Masters, a multi-sport athlete who has competed in rowing, cross-country skiing, and cycling. Born with radiation-related birth defects affecting her legs and hands, she has overcome significant challenges through determination and resilience.
After beginning in adaptive rowing, Masters went on to win Paralympic medals in cross-country skiing, including gold in 2018, and later earned double gold in cycling at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. She also supports women and girls with disabilities through the organization Sisters in Sports.
Let their perseverance and dedication continue to inspire others!
